Campath days -5 -4

In my last blog post on day - 6 I was starting the next chemo drug campath that evening, and what a rollercoaster it has been!

The doctors had warned me many people have a reaction of some sort but after the first dose the subsequent doses are not as bad as your body recognises it. Some lucky people have little to no reaction

Well over three days of Campath my body decided to try different reactions every time ( just to keep me on my toes!!)

Day one of Campath I immediately got the worst pain in my head I have ever had and I have had some bad migraines, my temperature spiked to over 39 and from then on I was nauseous.

Day two and and my legs and arms were covered in a red swollen rash, my airways went tight and I was wheezy a nebuliser and oxygen soon sorted that out.

Day three was different again it was a bit like anaphalatic shock my throat swelled and the rash was from head to toe.

Although the reactions sound scary there is usually a remedy at hand.

Although the constant nausea takes a little longer to treat but there are alot of different drugs to try to combat this its just finding the right combination for you. Some IV fluids to keep me hydrated and try different anti sickness meds.
