3 today!!

Happy re-birthday to me! Today marks the milestone of my transplant, three years ago today I was sat in my little hospital isolation room nervously awaiting my donor stem cells after intensive chemotherapy.

Lets face it we didn't know if I would still be here now but thanks to my generous donor I'm still here today. Its has been tough to say the least and I've a way to go yet but I'm forever thankful to my donor for making that choice to join the donor stem cell register and taking time out of their lives to help me to still be alive today.

So as I continue on my transplant journey I want to thank everyone who has been there for me, the many NHS caring for me and also the strangers who are live savers.Whether thats donating blood or being on the transplant register. Ive lost count of the amount of times I've needed blood transfusions without which I wouldn't be here.

Life is precious and no ones life plans out they way they think it will, but were still here to be able to enjoy it. I may not be able to do everything I want to, but who is! I enjoy the things I can do and am grateful for the small things.

To anyone thinking of joining the stem cell donation register its really easy. It just takes a quick swab of your mouth to join check out more about stem cell donation at https://www.anthonynolan.org for the 30’s and under and for the slightly older over 30’s check out https://www.dkms.org.uk/en
